Layout from Beth Barnes

Hi guys

Beth here today sharing one of my recent layouts. I still have some quite old photos in need of layouts! I found these photos from the first Blenheim Toy Run in 2009.

I started out with a sketch and Making Memories Mistletoe Big Red Dot paper and black cardstock as the base, I then got out Imagine If... Stars, Arrows with Words, and chipboard letters. I had some great silver wrapping paper that I'd saved from Christmas, and this went perfectly with the paper, so I covered all the chipboard with this and added them to the layout. Lastly was some journaling, and stickers that said '1st' on the star by the title. A nice easy layout that even the motorcyclist in my house liked and thought was appropriate!

Beautiful Hanging Butterfly

 

Hey crafters I am back with another project using supplies from Imagine if...

 

This week I created a hanging butterfly.

Bejewelled with bling, it sets off beautiful shards of sunlight.

 

Sorry I don't have photo's of the process I went through but I have had the worst time with my camera and lost all the photos I had taken.grrrrrrrrrr

 

 

This was a fun project to create.  I used a beautiful MDF Laser cut butterfly from Imagine if...

I painted it black, punched some holes in it and then adhered all these beautiful crystals to it.

I did the same to the smaller butterflies and then with some wire and beads I made these dangles and then I connected it all together with jump rings :)

 

I can't wait to hang this in the perfect place and watch it catch the sunlight and send out beautiful rays of colour.

Faux Metal Canvas- Ngaere

Before I begin with my project for this week I would like to congratulate Joan von Metzinger, the winner of the prize draw for the Imagine If Summer/Beach products.  Joan I look forward to seeing how you incorporate these products into your projects.  Have fun.

For my design team project this week for Imagine If I have been playing with some product that I ordered from Jo and combined with some chipboard pieces I have made a small 6"x6" faux metal canvas. I love playing with texture and for me the chipboard just lends itself so well to this kind of project. 

To begin I glued tissue paper to the front and sides of the canvas.  I then used one of Jo's stencils to add texture to the canvas using texture paste through the stencil.

I then painted the canvas with black gesso.

I then chose some chipboard pieces from Jo's extensive range of chipboard products.

A frame from the Rectangle Frame set
An owl, a set of mushrooms and rushes, a star and a butterfly

I glued each of these to the canvas painting them black as I was gluing them down.

Once the glue and the gesso had dried I painted the whole canvas with Viva Ferro Gold paint.  This gives a metallic effect to the piece.  Then to try and give it a patina I drybrushed the canvas with Viva Ink Gold Turquoise and Viva Ink Gold Cobalt Blue.

Vintage Altered Clip Board - Lilian

Wow the beginning of the new year is racing away! .....and so is summer!

I decided to alter this clip board I was gifted at Christmas in a Vintage French theme and add it to my decorations in my room....you guessed it! French inspired!

The first thing I did was sand the entire board then stained it with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress stain and then selected a paper in the colours I wanted to work with ....this one is Madame Boutique!

Glued to the front and back of the clip board.

I have inked the edges with Vintage Photo as well for the aged look.

Using the butterfly template from Imagine if I added three of the little ones using texture paste mixed with a little turquoise paint, when it dried I brushed over a little of the ink to tone down the brightness.

With the chosen sentiments and large butterfly from Imagine if and a wooden Eiffel Tower I stained them with the Vintage Photo stain and glued them down.

Finishing off with pearls, a mix of flowers, prima beads and  seam binding threaded through the top of the clip board and tied into a bow to hang!

Hello and welcome to a quick post for Imagine If, First i would like to say congratulations to Margo for winning the Imagine If prize pack from my blog and congrats to all the others who won from the other design team members blogs.
This week I have made a valentines time layout (sort of) we don't usually do valentine day but I had a couple of photos of my Hubby and son that I really wanted to use, the photo were of us just playing with my new instax mini camera, and my son likes to take photos with it so he snapped one off of Dad.

For this layout I have hand drawn my heart and used that as my base, then I have used black modeling paste through the words stencil from Imagine If, then white modeling paste randomly through the circle stencil, once they were both dry I painted my heart with my Lindy's stamp gang spray and a brush, then sprayed a little Cafe' au lait to add a little colour.I've splatted a bit of red around, then written my journaling around the outside of my heart and I wrote the word love over my always. on top of my photos I have used a photo frame from Imagine If and a small heart to set it all off,

Valentines Day cards - Brenda

Here we are in February already, gee where did January go??
February of course brings us Valentines Day, and what a great excuse to get all soppy for a change.  For my DT project I've made a small selection of cards using lots of different bits of chipboard & felt from Imagine if . .  .

3 very different cards using lots of different techniques and materials.  I've used Kaisercraft & BoBunny papers, bakers twine, lace, string, paper doily.  These have been altered by embossing, painting, stamping, glossy accents, stickles and texture paste.

Hi everyone

Happy Waitangi weekend, hope you all got a chance to celebrate or enjoy the day off.  I unfortunately did not spend it lazying by the pool, instead I spent the day tidying up what I can only describe as a mess, my studio,  this crafting business can be a little messy.   I look at pictures on line of peoples craft studios, and the only thing i can say is Does anyone actually work in it?  Because mine never looks like that.

Classes
These run in conjunction with the school terms.  Bookings essential

Wednesday Morning 10am - 12pm Scrapbooking classes  FULL at this stage.

We have a few requests to be able to do this class on a Thursday night 6-8pm.  So if you are interested please let me know.  We do things like this

Thursday night class 6pm - 8pm Play and do what you want to do, with either Pauline, Alysha or myself there to help you.  $5.00

Cards & Box Classes:  Friday 13th 10am - 12pm - $12.00
This is a new set of classes we will be doing on alternate weeks, one week cards, the next boxes, etc.
You will learn to make usually two cards (depending on how intricate or one box, there are some amazing projects planned.  Everything supplied for the $12.00.  You will learns all sorts of techniques from stamping, folding, mixed media, layering, simple, over the top, etc.  The boxes are great to give as gifts, to hold things, to add cards to or chocolate etc.  This weeks cards have a beach theme.

12 Cards using Graphic 45 Journal cards.  $35.00  Saturday Feb 28th 10am - 3pm.   (Maybe kits available)
Using the 12 journal cards from the graphic 45 Time to flourish range as a base, we will be making 12 cards.  These are not folded fancy cards, just basic cards, with different basic techniques to make a set of lovely cards, teaching layering, paper tole and other decorative ideas.   Suitable for beginners, and maybe a chance to play for experienced card makers.  One for each month of the year.

Need an idea of something to do on date night or for family fun.
Shuffle the cards, pull a card out and that's your plan for the night.  Mostly free ideas, you can choose date night for you and your loved one, or you can choose family fun.  You decorate the cards and the box to store them in.   All ideas supplied, and paper, cars and box.  Please advise which theme you want.
